  • About the Artists

Our vibrant and dynamic artists are from the Utopia region; a large remote area of Central Australia which, until recently, had no government funded art centre. As a result of their pioneering efforts, they have one of the strongest and richest art histories.

Yerramp (Honey Ant) Dreaming by Nora Petyarre

    30cm x 30cm

This painting represents the Dreaming story of Yerramp (Honey Ant). Honey ants are a sweet bush food for desert aboriginal people; the sac on the back of the honey ant is pure natural honey. The circular symbol in the centre of this painting represents the tree the honey ants are found under. The arc linear patterns in the four corners represent women's ceremonial body paint designs for this Dreaming.

    Artist: Nora Petyarre
