There are different types of bush medicine in Central Australia. One is used as an ointment where the star shaped leaves, along with the seeds of the plant are crushed, mixed with animal fats and applied topically on sores. Another has medicinal properties in its roots that can be dug up and drunk straight from the root to cure sore throats.
Often bush medicine have associated Dreamings and those who have ownership will now the songs, and symbols and stories which can often been seen in artwork.
