“The Dreamtime is the mythological representation of what Aboriginal people carry in their minds. The source of life! This knowledge has not just been planted in their minds, it is taught and structured through initiation and ceremony.” - A.P. Elkin, Professor of Anthropology, 1920’s-1930’s

This painting tells the story of a small worm or caterpillar found in Jilly's country. Pronounced eey-LEN-ky-la in Jilly’s language, this creature is represented in this painting by the concentric circle designs. She, Iylenkyla, is asleep in the centre and then unwinds herself around and around. Iylenkyla is special to Jilly as the story belongs to the women of her country, Arawerr.
