Our vibrant and dynamic artists are from the Utopia region; a large remote area of Central Australia which, until recently, had no government funded art centre. As a result of their pioneering efforts, they have one of the strongest and richest art histories.
Die Designs in diesem Gemälde sind von Alhepalh (Acacia dictyophleba) inspiriert, einem spärlich verzweigten Strauch, der in der Nähe von Michelles Haus in der Utopia-Region in Zentralaustralien reichlich zu finden ist. Alhepalh produziert kleine, weich überzogene braune Samen, die die Frauen einst sammelten, zu einer Paste zermahlen und zu Brot (Brot) kochten, was sie zu einer äußerst wichtigen Nahrungsquelle machte. Aufgrund des Fertigbrots ist diese Praxis heute jedoch nicht mehr üblich.

Die Samen des Alhepalh werden gesammelt, damit sie gemahlen werden können.
Abhängig von der Größe des Strauchs kann sein Stamm auch zur Herstellung von Speeren und Grabstöcken verwendet werden und war traditionell ein wichtiger Handelsgegenstand. Alhepalh hat auch medizinische Eigenschaften und bringt kleine duftende Blüten hervor.
