Im zentralaustralischen Busch gibt es viele kleine schwarze pflaumenartige Beeren. Diese besondere pflaumenartige Beere, die Josie malt, ist eigentlich eine Mistel ( angkwerpme in Josies Sprache) und eine der wenigen Sorten, die essbare Beeren haben; was es zu einer wichtigen Nahrungsquelle macht.
Josies Gemälde erkundet die Reifestadien dieser Beeren bis zur Reife.
Nach starken Regenfällen verwandelt sich die Wüste von einer analogen Landschaft in ein Panorama voller Farben und Vegetation.
Diese süßen essbaren Beeren verändern ihre Farbe von Grün zu Gelb-, Rot- und Orangetönen, bevor sie schließlich ein bläuliches Lila (nahe Schwarz) annehmen, wenn sie vom Stiel fallen und in großen Mengen gesammelt werden.
