About the Artists
Our vibrant and dynamic artists are from the Utopia region; a large remote area of Central Australia which, until recently, had no government funded art centre. As a result of their pioneering efforts, they have one of the strongest and richest art histories.

Arnumarra is our first solo exhibition of paintings by Utopia artist Colleen Wallace Nungari.
The exhibition showcases twelve dynamic and vivid Dreamtime Sisters paintings.

ABOUT
Arnumarra is the name of Colleen's country which lies north east of Alice Springs in Central Australia.
Colleen paints Dreamtime Sisters; ancestral spirits who roam the country performing sacred song and dance. They look after Arnumarra country and guide its people.
There is a sacred site in Arnumarra where Dreamtime Sisters are carved on the rock walls just as they are illustrated in Colleen's paintings. Many hold ceremonial fabric in which they use to dance.
Their dance encompasses the stories of the ancient land including the pencil yam and its seed.
