  • About the Artists

Our vibrant and dynamic artists are from the Utopia region; a large remote area of Central Australia which, until recently, had no government funded art centre. As a result of their pioneering efforts, they have one of the strongest and richest art histories.

  • Bottle work 'blooms'

Shop flowers and designs painted using ink bottles with different sized nibs. These designs have their origins back in the 1980's when many of these same artists participated in batik workshops, and similar designs can be seen on these early works. After moving onto painting with sticks and brushes there after, ink bottles became popular in the mid 00's as a tool to create similar designs expressing their Dreaming stories. Artists such as Lucky Morton Kngwarrey, Michelle Lion Kngwarrey and Hazel Morton Kngwarrey frequently paint in this style.
