Annie Hunter is known for her fine execution of women's ceremonial designs in her paintings. Her works have been collected since the beginning of the Utopia art movement when batik was first introduced to the women in 1977. Her work in this medium was selected for Utopia - A Picture Story an exhibition which toured extensively nationally and internationally.
In the late 1980's, Annie's first paintings were featured in the significant exhibition and subsequent publication Utopia Women’s Paintings, the First Works on Canvas, A Summer Project (1988-89).
