Amy was born at Woola Downs (also called Adelaide Bore) and attended Utopia School and Yirrara College in Alice Springs growing up.
Prior to painting, Amy was introduced to the application of batik by other women of Utopia. Her work in this medium was featured in a group exhibition at the Araluen Art Centre in Alice Springs.
Along with the other women of Utopia, Amy moved onto painting with acrylics during the 1990's. She spends most of her time at Arlparra Store with her mother Rosie Pwerle, sister Julie Pengarte and other family.
Amy paints variety of subjects, most commonly Awelye (Women’s Ceremony), Yam Seed (or Bush Seed), Bush Medicine from her mother's country, and Yerramp (Honey Ant) Story.
