Our vibrant and dynamic artists are from the Utopia region; a large remote area of Central Australia which, until recently, had no government funded art centre. As a result of their pioneering efforts, they have one of the strongest and richest art histories.
Die linearen Muster in diesem Gemälde stellen zeremonielle Körperbemalungsmuster von Frauen dar.
Diese Motive werden auf Brust, Brüste, Arme und Oberschenkel der Frauen gemalt. Als Körperbemalung werden aus Ocker (Ton), Holzkohle und Asche gemahlene Pulver verwendet, die mit einem flachen, weich gepolsterten Stift aufgetragen werden. Dieser Stock heißt „Typale“. Die Frauen singen, während jede Frau abwechselnd „bemalt“ wird.
Frauen führen Zeremonien durch, um Respekt für ihr Land und das allgemeine Wohlergehen und die Gesundheit ihrer Gemeinschaft zu demonstrieren.
