Der Atnwelarr ist ein einheimisches Hängekraut, das nach starkem Regen große Flächen bedeckt. Seine üppigen hellgrünen Blätter erwecken den Strauch zum Leben. Kleine gelbe Blüten blühen und unter der Oberfläche finden sich Knollen (Bleistift-Yamswurzeln), die ein beliebtes und nahrhaftes Nahrungsmittel sind.
