Joycie malt die medizinische Flora, die im Land um Amperlatwatye (oder Ampilatwatja) in Zentralaustralien zu finden ist. Sie werden als Salbe zur Linderung von Hautinfektionen verwendet oder als Getränk gegen Husten und Erkältungen zubereitet.
Das Malen von Buschmedizin-Geschichten ist wichtig, weil es dazu beiträgt, ein starkes Wissen und eine starke Kultur für die Gemeinschaft aufrechtzuerhalten.
„Es gibt viele verschiedene Medikamente, wir kennen ihre Geschichten, wir haben sie von unseren Eltern gelernt und wir bringen diese Geschichten unseren Kindern bei.“
Joycie lebt mit ihrer Mutter, der preisgekrönten Künstlerin Betty Morton und ihrer Tochter Nakita Inkamala in der kleinen Gemeinde Ampilatwatja.
