Janice stammt aus einer starken Künstlerfamilie, die sich mit Malerei, Schnitzerei und Batik beschäftigt. Ihr Ehemann Wally Clarke Pwerle ist ebenfalls ein angesehener Maler und Schnitzer.
Janice nahm an Batik-Workshops teil, die von 1977 bis 1987 in Utopia stattfanden. Ihre Arbeit in diesem Medium wird in der Publikation Utopia – A Picture Story vorgestellt, einer Ausstellung mit 88 Seidenarbeiten . Bald darauf wurden Utopia-Künstler mit dem Medium Acryl auf Leinwand vertraut gemacht und Janices früheste Arbeiten in diesem Medium werden in der Publikation Utopia Paintings, the First Works on Canvas, A Summer Project vorgestellt.
Janices Arbeiten wurden seitdem in Gruppenausstellungen im In- und Ausland ausgestellt und ihre Werke sind in den prestigeträchtigen Sammlungen von Holmes á Court, der National Gallery of Australia und der National Gallery of Victoria vertreten.
