    Bettys Arbeit wurde von den Kunstwerken ihrer Mutter beeinflusst, einer bekannten Aborigine-Künstlerin namens Minnie Pwerle , die 2006 verstarb. Bettys Eindruck von den Gemälden ihrer Mutter war strukturierter und raffinierter.

    Die Entwürfe zeigten Körperbemalungen von Frauen, Landformationen und heilige Stätten im Land ihrer Mutter, Atnwengerrp, in den abgelegenen Gebieten von Utopia in Zentralaustralien.



    Im Jahr 2021 nahm Betty Mbitjana aus gesundheitlichen Gründen eine Vollzeitstation in einer Altenpflege-/Entlastungsklinik in Alice Springs auf und verstarb später im Jahr 2023.
