  • About the Artists

Our vibrant and dynamic artists are from the Utopia region; a large remote area of Central Australia which, until recently, had no government funded art centre. As a result of their pioneering efforts, they have one of the strongest and richest art histories.

Shop current artworks by Emily Pwerle

Emily began painting in 2004 with her sister Molly after being encouraged by many family members to experience the pleasure of teaching her stories in a creative way.

Emily is the younger sister of the late Minnie Pwerle, one of Australia’s most renowned artists.

Anthep is an ancestral place that remains the most significant site on Atnwengerrp, Emily's country. Ceremony (awely) and dance are still performed there. It is a place where everyone - men, women and children can meet together and camp. It is also a place where permanent water can be found.
