About the Artists
Our vibrant and dynamic artists are from the Utopia region; a large remote area of Central Australia which, until recently, had no government funded art centre. As a result of their pioneering efforts, they have one of the strongest and richest art histories.
Alan and his family are passionate about Australian Rules Football and enjoy coming together to watch on the TV. Alan also used to play bush football when he was younger, where teams from different communities are named after AFL teams and meet on sports weekends to compete. People travel thousands of kilometres to play and/or watch.
This painting of a Sherrin football is symbolic of Alan's passion for the game.The colours in the background are the colours of his community's team - the Apungalingum Eagles.
