About the Artists
Our vibrant and dynamic artists are from the Utopia region; a large remote area of Central Australia which, until recently, had no government funded art centre. As a result of their pioneering efforts, they have one of the strongest and richest art histories.
In der Traumzeit gibt es zwei Teile der Pencil Yam-Geschichte, die Amy malt. Es wurden zwei verschiedene Samen geboren, die zwei verschiedene Arten von Yamswurzeln hervorbrachten; einer hat angerufen Atnwelarr der zu Amys Land gehört, und der andere heißt Arlatyeye das zum Arnumarra-Land gehört.
Eileen malt die Samen von Atnwelarr.
Der Atnwelarr selbst ist eine lange, dünne röhrenförmige Yamswurzel (geschwollene Wurzel), die zu einem hängenden Kraut oder einer Schlingpflanze gehört, die oft große Flächen des Bodens mit hellgrünen Blättern und gelben Blüten bedeckt.
