Die Motive in diesem Gemälde stellen eine Art Bleistiftgarn namens Atnwelarr dar. Die Traumgeschichte ihrer Vorfahren gehört zum Land von Malandas Mutter. Bleistift-Yams sind kleine Knollen, die unter der Erde wachsen. Sie sind eine wichtige Nahrungsquelle im Busch, können roh verzehrt oder in heißem Sand und Asche gekocht werden und werden auch heute noch geerntet. In der Traumzeit sind die Kame genannten Samen der Yamswurzel von besonderer Bedeutung. Es wurden zwei verschiedene Samen geboren, die zwei verschiedene Arten von Yamswurzeln hervorbrachten; einer namens Atnwelarr und einer namens Arlatyeye.
