    Belinda's painting depicts the flowers of the pencil yam. 

    The pencil yam is a small, long tubular yam (swollen root) of a trailing herb or creeper found in Utopia that can cover large areas of ground with bright green leaves. Its yellow flowers blossom after rain, and bring a vivid colour to the landscape.

    The pencil yam is sacred to the people of Belinda's country, Alhalkere.
