  • About the Artists

Our vibrant and dynamic artists are from the Utopia region; a large remote area of Central Australia which, until recently, had no government funded art centre. As a result of their pioneering efforts, they have one of the strongest and richest art histories.

Pencil Yam Flower by Elizabeth Loy (SOLD)

    30cm x 30cm

This painting depicts leaves and flowers of the pencil yam.

Pencil yams are small tubers growing beneath the surface of a native trailing herb. These are still harvested today.

Above ground, the leaves of this herb will cover large areas of ground after significant rain and produce small yellow flower.s The leaves are bright green and bring the bush to life.

Elizabeth's painting captures the untamed movement as the flowering herb emerges from the ground and sweeps across the desert floor.
