    Collecting Bush Food by Josie Kunoth Petyarre

    Josie's painting depicts olden time people of Apungalingum, with their camp dogs, out on the homelands collecting bush food. They have coolamons (wooden bowls) on their heads filled with ntyerrm (dogweed seeds) and akatyerre (tomatoes). They are also hunting for perentie, sand goanna and bush turkey with spears and boomerangs. Snakes are hiding in the grass. The large featured plants are awenth (dogwood trees); its dreaming belongs to the people of Alhalkere country.
